The European Council adopted yesterday conclusions about the social dimension of the future of EU.

The Social Summit for Fair Jobs and Growth in Gothenburg is recalled in the conclusions and the Member States support broadly the main messages in the report from the hosts.

The importance of putting people first and to further develop the social dimension of the Union based on a shared commitment and established competences; implementing the European Pillar of Social Rights; facilitating a well-functioning social dialogue at all levels; and of progressing on EU-initiatives within the social field is being stressed.

The European Council also stated that they will come back to all these matters in March 2018 to ensure appropriate follow-up.
